Philodendron 'Mamei' - The Granny Plantie's Guide
Meet the Philodendron 'Mamei', a plant that's as sassy as I am! This plant is glossy and deep green with reddish backsides, and new leaves emerge with a deep pink hue. It's very hairy and is said to resemble a serpent's head. Don't worry, it won't bite!
Lighting
Give this plant bright, indirect light. It's like me, a little dramatic, so it needs the spotlight but not directly in it. East or west-facing windows are perfect.
Watering
Water it thoroughly, then let the soil dry slightly between waterings. Don't overwater, or it'll be like me when I'm cranky - all soggy and miserable!
Humidity
Keep the humidity high, around 50-60%. You can place the plant on a tray with pebbles and water to increase the humidity. I like a little misting every now and then too!
Soil
Use a well-draining potting mix. This plant doesn't like wet feet, just like me when I'm wearing my favorite slippers!
Fertilizer
Feed it with a balanced fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Don't overfertilize, or it'll be like giving me too much cake - not good!
Temperature
Keep it in an area with a consistent temperature between 65-75°F (18-24°C). No drafts, please! This plant is a diva, just like me!
With these care tips, your Philodendron 'Mamei' will thrive. And remember, a happy plant is like a happy granny - full of life and sass!
