Philodendron 'Marble Pink Princess'
Apart from the splendid pink and dark green leaves, the plant is identified by large waxy leaves. These leaves can grow up to 9″ long and 5″ wide. The pinkness on the leaves is due to a lack of chlorophyll—the chemical that makes plants' leaves green. However, some greenness on the leaves is also necessary so that the plants can photosynthesize.
Lighting: This plant loves bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause the leaves to become scorched, so it's best to provide filtered sunlight. East or west-facing windows are perfect for this plant.
Watering: Water your Philodendron 'Marble Pink Princess' when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so make sure not to waterlog the soil. Water at soil level, avoiding the leaves to prevent fungal diseases.
Humidity: This plant thrives in humid environments. You can increase the humidity around your plant by placing it on a tray filled with water and pebbles or using a humidifier. Misting the leaves daily also helps maintain the right humidity levels.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that's rich in organic matter. A mix specifically designed for tropical plants like this one would be perfect. Avoid using regular garden soil, as it can compact and prevent proper drainage.
Fertilizer: Feed your Philodendron 'Marble Pink Princess' with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Dilute the fertilizer to half the recommended strength to avoid burning the roots.
Temperature: Keep your plant in an area with a consistent temperature between 65°F and 75°F (18°C and 24°C). Avoid placing it near heating or cooling vents, fireplaces, or drafty windows.
